About the Position
AdvicePay is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a key role in supporting our continued growth. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this person will be hands-on in leading our day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of our financial data, and providing insights that help guide strategic decisions. You'll collaborate across the company, from leadership to team members, to bring financial clarity and support. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic team environment, values integrity and transparency, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to make an impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and manage the daily operations of all accounting functions, including revenue and receivables, expenses and payables, banking and cash management, and other related areas.
Manage the monthly financial close, ensuring the completion of all necessary journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations. Ensure accurate financial transaction assignments for reliable financial reporting.
Generate monthly financial reports, including the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow, and summary of key financial performance indicators for the company and all departments.
Perform a detailed monthly financial analysis of company performance, identifying key trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Manage company cash flow and prepare cash flow projections.
Assist Head of Finance with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Build positive working relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with all departments, offering financial expertise, insights, and support.
Act as the “go-to” finance and accounting expert for the company to help develop financial literacy at all levels of the organization.
Be a trusted partner across the business, building confidence in our financial processes by acting with integrity and transparency in all your work and interactions.
Stay current with GAAP and applicable tax laws, ensuring compliance in all financial activities.
Perform administrator tasks for accounting software ensuring integrations and automations are maintained and working properly.
Collaborate with tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all filing requirements. Support tax planning throughout the year and the accurate and timely filing of the annual corporate tax returns and 1099-Ks.
Support HR in payroll operations by serving as payroll backup, ensuring accurate financial accounting of payroll transactions, and collaborating on compliance, reporting, and audits as needed.
Maintain and develop Finance Policies and Procedures, and ensure adequate internal controls are in place and operating effectively across all financial processes.
Serve as a mentor and collaborative resource to the Staff Accountant, helping strengthen technical skills and financial knowledge
Project work as directed by the Head of Finance.

Salary: $117,376/year based on the accountability level reflected in our transparent salary structure (shared with all team members upon joining)

Job requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Table (If you think, “I only meet 80% of these qualifications”, still apply!)
5-8+ years total accounting/finance experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior accounting or controller-level role.
Experience in a high-growth environment is a strong plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
Excellent leadership, communication, and management skills.
Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally to build strong relationships with both leadership and team members across departments
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
High sense of personal responsibility and integrity (required)
An understanding of and strong alignment with our core values (required)
Legally authorized to live and work in the United States (required)
